obsessing on bookshelves

I'm still on a bookshelf-obsession phase and finally it has come to an end! Thanks to Mobler Philippines who imports IKEA products to our dear motherland, I was able to order my very first Billy Bookcase:

The delivery will be between 4-5 weeks and they allow COD! More time to save!;) I can't wait to move my poor books from our cramped shelves to this red beauty! I'll make a new post once I have the actual product already:)

eat pray and eat!;)

After months of waiting for its release here in Pilipinas and difficulties in aligning our hectic schedules, my friend Mello and I were able to watch Eat, Pray, Love on the big screen. At first I was a bit hesitant to watch the book’s film version since I heard many reviews saying that the book is much better than the film (what’s new, right?). So I gave in and joined my friend as we enjoyed seeing scenes from EAT: where the protagonist Liz Gilbert immensely enjoyed slurping her pasta with a glass of wine, indulged in yummy slices of pizza in Naples, walked the streets of Rome, Italy which reminded me of my trip there a year ago (ahhh the beauty of Fontana di Trevi and Colosseo!), finished mini tubs of gelato and celebrated an American Thanksgiving with Italian friends, to PRAY: rode a crazy cab to visit her Ashram’s place in India, struggled waking up during the wee hours of the morning to read a 182-verse Sanskrit chant, attended an Indian wedding ceremony, finally set her husband free after causing him too much pain from their divorce, and to LOVE: revisited an old medicine man in Ketut, swam the clear waters of Bali, and befriended a divorcee who later on becomes her husband.

We enjoyed the scenes in Italy because of its close up shots of food (both eating and cooking na nakakagutom!), the significant tourist attractions and funny lines which my friend and I can relate to (we love the art of doing nothing – dolce far niente - our motto from now on!). Oh, I remember my trip to Rome, Italy last year! Nakakamiss!
Colosseo.

At Fontana di Trevi. Ang itim ko:))

Outside Parthenon.

Our own version of EAT! At some resto in Rome <3
However, some parts can be a bit dragging. I’m sorry but the PRAY part was lacking the spiritual content that we are all expecting it to have. The film just showed that hey the author went to India, made a few friends here, struggled with the meditation, etc, but it failed to make us feel the spirituality of her journey to India. Hehe. Oh well, At least the movie succeeded in its visual aspects=)
After the movie, we met Marts and had our dinner c/o Mello in Wendy’s! Dapat Army Navy pero closed na sha. Ang aga! Boo. Hehe. Anyway, we ordered bacon mushroom melt burger and surprised Mello with cupcakes:

Frosting Cupcakes:) The Smores flavored is delish!

Birthday girl!

Happy birthday churvs!! Moviedate again soon!:)

cheers to more lunchout options!:)

I got an amazing email from my teammate last Friday apart from the usual work-related mails. Yes, it made the foodie in me excited! This November, more food options will be available for the Makati yuppies (yah, I'm a part of it already haha). See below to believe!

Ayala Triangle Gardens (at the back of Philippine Stock Exchange) will be home to my favorites: Kanin Club, Amici and Coffee Bean and soon to be faves: Banapple (Yes! No more roadtrips to Katipunan!), Wee Nam Kee (as read in Chuvaness's blog, serves one of the best Singaporean Chicken Rice) and Bonchon Chicken (fried chicken cooked the Korean way). No more diets and tag-tipids! More food choices, more fun and will result to a happy employee!:p My only worry is I bet the liiiines will be long as these restos occupy only a small portion of Ayala Triangle (as seen from afar across Makati Avenue). Well, let's see! Just in time for our Christmas lunchouts:)

current addiction

Yes another food post. All because of my current addiction to this:

Frozen Braso from Mozu, The Fort

Yum yum yum! Meet Frozen Braso De Mercedes! My first taste of this yummy dessert was way back in 2008, during my cousin's birthday. At first we thought it was the usual ice cream cake but when we tried it, OMG, we forgot our names! Haha, kidding! It's super yummy! Aggy's Cakes and Pastries was the first one who thought of doing a twist to your usual Braso De Mercedes by adding ice cream in the middle. Until now, we are not sure what flavor it is. If in case you know, drop me a message in the comments section since I'm planning to make my own version of this:) My guess is either mango, pastillas de leche or vanilla ice cream. Hmmm.

Try it now! You can buy a box for 600 pesos (the large one) in Aggy's or A Sweet Life Booth in the Baker's Fair in Powerplant Mall. :)

this made my day

mars and paul

My too good friends, Marion and Paulc, were engaged last Sunday! Sweetness! I’m so happy for you guys! Sabi na nga ba kayo mauuna sa barkada natin hehe. I saw the video of the proposal on one of Marion’s cousins FB page:) Kakatuwa!

The proposal was timed perfectly. Last Sunday, October 17, was Mars and Paul’s 6th year anniversary as BF/GF. Now, the date can be remembered as the day of Paul’s proposal, a mark of a new beginning for the couple. I have known the two since 2003 and I’m a witness to their several ups and downs during the first few years of their relationship. Honestly, at first, our barkada never thought that they would last years as a couple. Years meaning 4-6 years. Yung mga tipong 3 years sila ganun. Pero after seeing how they complement each other. Ayan na, we were definitely wrong! ;p

marion's birthday:)

since 2004:)

Hay I’m just so proud of you guys.:) Invite me to your wedding ha, haha. And I wish you all the best talaga! Mwah!

rogie and cel

Last Saturday, Raffy and I attended the wedding ceremony of his good friend/officemate Rogie and Cel. It was held in Antipolo Cathedral which I grew up knowing as the home of Our Lady of Good Voyage. Every year, my parents see to it that we go on our trip to Antipolo so the Lady will guide us during our trips and out of the country travels. Mga makakating paa kasi kami nila Gia so gala lang ng gala kaya kailangan talaga ng prayers and safety. My parents have a point=p It’s better to be always safe, right? Haha. Anyway, it was perfect timing that the wedding ceremony will be held in Antipolo since I was not able to go with mom and dad last May. Hitting two birds with one stone: attend the wedding and visit the Lady. Good job!;p

We reached Antipolo after meeting up with Alris in Shell Edsa. Travel time was pretty fast considering how far Antipolo is (literal asa bundok) plus traffic in some parts of Marcos Highway. Upon touchdown, we were hungry as bears that we went to the 1st fast food chain we saw, KFC! I’m crazy for that chicken resto ever since. Raffy and I were torn on what we should order. I saw there’s a newbie in the menu which is the ChilLime Chicken. Traditional KFC chicken (parang redundant Kentucky Fried Chicken Chicken. Haha), dredged in breading and spice with a hint of lime! So we ordered that plus Shakin’ Shots in garlic parmesan flavor:

What can I say about Chillime? We all know that KFC’s always doing their own innovations in their fried chicken with their latest offerings like BBQ rods and chicken wraps. Chillime is another of those innovations. It is quite good but they should add more spice to the chicken so it can really be called CHILLime. Wala masyadong anghang. The LIME part is ok for me, and I guess what they did was marinate the chicken in lime or kalamansi. More flavors pa siguro. Still, we enjoyed our lunch. =)

After that, it is still too early to go inside the church. We do not want to hang out inside since there is an ongoing mass for the deceased. So we opted to stroll around the mini stores selling Antipolo’s famous kasuy, kalamay and suman. We ended up making chika at Ate Grace’s stall (feeling close kami) and had several free tastes! And then it rained! Waah! Too bad for my new shoes, kawawa, nasawsaw heel sa mini baha! Oh well. At least my feet didn’t get soaked in the floods. Ate Grace was nice enough to lend me her chair. Raffy, Alris and I waited for rain to subside a little then we borrowed one of the atepayongs and rushed our way inside the church.

Happy texter

May picture narin sa wakas!;p

The wedding started around 3:30 pm. When Cel arrived, I took a picture of her bridal car. Really nice!

Rogie in his white tux:

Here comes the groom!

The BF

Here comes the bride!

Newlyweds!

I can say the wedding is really nice and polished. No crying moments though;p Sayang. Fast forward to the reception. We were treated to food by Hizon’s and yummy lechon. Ooh, I can’t fit into my dress afterwards!;p Then during the usual wedding reception games, I’m the first one who got the eggplant in between a guy’s legs (the game is like trip to Jerusalem)! I have fast hands haha! Saved myself from having the garter pulled all the way to my upper knee! Phew! Competitive since 1990’s! haha!

competitive talaga
It was a good weekend for me and Raffy. Congrats to our newly-wedded friends!:) Cheers to a life mixed happiness, tears, joys, defeats and love!:)

Happiness!

newest junkie in town

There’s a new chichirya in town that you should definitely try! Lucky me, my sister Cea’s working with Oishi and I get to try the new products that are not introduced in the market yet. So, here it is in it’s orangey packaging glory:

A single stick of Wafu below:

Meet Wafu! Wafer with cheese filling inside. Think childhood fave Champola or Stik-O but this time, instead of chocolate, it has cheese filling. Wafu reminds me of those Japanese chichirya my friends who migrated projects in Tokyo brought home as pasalubongs.

But Wafu tastes so much better! The price is also affordable, only 2 pesos per stick! Parang yosi lang! Haha! Try this now, highly recommended by the junkie addict(aka ME!;p). You can purchase one in Landmark=) Enjoy!
